Dr. Brian James is the founder and director of The Mentoring Dentist, LLC.  A University of Iowa College of Dentistry graduate, Dr. James is a full-time practicing dentist with clinics in Monticello and Dyersville.  In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. James lectures to dentists and their staff and serves as a consultant.  In December, 2007, Dr. James was featured in "Dentistry Today's" 10th annual edition featuring the top dental clinicians in continuing education.  The Mentoring Dentist, LLC company is a recognized Academy of General Dentistry national pace provider and a recognized continuing education sponsor of the Iowa Board of Dental Examiners and DANB. 

The Mentoring Dentist dental assisting program has been featured in the Cedar Rapids Gazette, the Quad City Times and the North Scott Press.  The flagship dental assisting program is a state of Iowa registered vocational instructional school and is beginning its third year.  This popular, affordable program is fast becoming the program of choice for those wishing to become dental assistants.  We are positively impacting the profession and are helping to ease the shortage of trained dental assistants in Iowa.  In some cases, dentists are hiring students prior to graduation.  Students come to us from all over Iowa and western Illinois. 

Honors received by Dr. James include the following:

-- In May, 2007, Dr. James was honored by his high school alma mater by being inducted into the North Scott Hall of Excellence.  Dr. James is one of only 25 distinguished alumni to receive this honor.  Dr. James remains committed to education and the advancement of the profession of dentistry.  He is a member of the ADA, IDA and Dubuque Dental District.
